WINDCREST POWER. A MADE IN CANADA SUCCESS STORY

When I began looking for innovative renewable energy solutions in 2021 I was troubled by the lack of Canadian innovation. We were playing catch up. But in the fall of 2024 that changed when I was introduced to Windcrest Power of Ottawa, ON. The CEO of Windcrest, Scott Murray, had purchased the IP (18 patents) from the Power Collective of Kingston, ON who had began developing a very unique small wind turbine to fit on the top of pitched roofs and Windcrest Power has spent the last year fine tuning the turbines and completing wind tunnel testing in Oshawa.

The Power Collective had installed turbines in Canada and Europe so there was a baseline to

work with when Windcrest Power took over. What makes these turbines so unique is their simplicity. Wind travels up a roof pitch naturally and exits at up to 3X the velocity it entered at. The wind is then captured by fins that direct the air into a series of rotary blades where it can then produce up to 7.8KW of power.

What is most exciting is the potential to pair this technology with solar to form a hybrid system. Solar has seasonal limitations in the fall/winter/spring months in Canada due to shorter days. What is interesting is that at the same time solar is less effective, wind speeds tend to pick up, therefore doing the heavy lifting in the months that solar cannot.

Unlike many small wind turbines you may come across in a Google search, Windcrest Power is not a toy. They are robust and reliable and use 100% Canadian sourced parts and materials, including the generator.

Make no mistake. This is a game changer in renewable energy. Sure, huge wind turbines produce a ton of power. But they cannot be installed in cities or urban areas. The Windcrest Power Turbine is quiet and aesthetically pleasing and at a cost of approximately 28,000 CAD per unit (before rebates), the numbers make sense.
